I am proud to announce my candidacy for NC House District 93.
We are seeing a shift in North Carolina as constituents are becoming fed up with “politics as usual.” I want to bring a fresh new energy and new ideas that people are asking for. Our current Representatives are no longer in touch with what the people of Western North Carolina are asking for. I’m running to represent the everyday people of this district. A vote for me will be a vote for the hard working people of this district.
I am running on a platform of delivering funding for rebuilding Western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene; fully funding public education; increasing affordable health care access; lowering costs for working families — including housing, utilities, groceries, and child care; and advocating for our state employees and retirees.

Get to Know Me
I was born in Madison County and moved to Boone in 1990 to attend App State. I grew up the child of parents who were educators in the public school system. We also lived on a farm where we grew 10 acres of burly tobacco and tended numerous gardens. Over the years we’ve had numerous farm animals.
After moving to Boone, I studied Political Science at Appalachian State University. During college I worked my way through school at Pizza Hut. This is where I developed a love for working in food. In 1998 I had an opportunity to go back to App State and continue working in the food industry.
During my 30+ years in Boone, working at App State, I got involved in campus and the surrounding community. I have been Staff Senate President, a member of the App State Board of Trustees, Chair of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee for 15 years, Watauga County Planning Board for 8 years (4 of those as Vice Chair) chaired the County Strategic Planning Committee, served on the WAMY Board, the App Theatre Board, the Watauga Arts Council, the Watauga Department of Social Services Board, the Watauga County History Museum and the Southern Appalachian Historical Association as well as many other committees and Non Profits.
I am married to Shelley Wallin and we have a beautiful daughter, Keller, who is a Senior at Watauga High School. We attend Grace Lutheran Church, where I have had many roles and currently am an Assisting Minister.

My Mission
I am a successful leader with a proven history of getting things done for this community and want to continue to service by representing you in House District #93. I’m running because our counties deserve someone who already understands the challenges we face, who knows this community from the inside, and who is ready to fight for the people who live and work here. We need someone who can step in on day one with local experience, strong relationships, and a clear plan. I’m ready to bring that experience to Raleigh and represent House District 93, serving the people of Ashe, Alleghany, and Watauga County.
